| trugs
teach reading using
games trugs
is a highly structured phonic reading resource to support pupils
who are learning to read. There are four different styles of card
games at each of the structured and progressive phonic reading stages.
There is an explanation about the
teaching of the specific phonic sounds within the Instruction Booklet.
There is also a clue card containing a shortened explanation for the
pupil to have alongside them to help recall. There are also assessment booklets to
monitor an individual’s progress and ensure that text is read and
encouraged. trugs
introduces important irregular high frequency words, but keeps the
card games free from rogue words, allowing the reading skills of an
individual to develop and become successful. Playing the card games means that
reinforcement and consolidation of each phonic reading stage are not
only fun but are also internalised by the individual so that the
complex decoding of reading becomes a manageable and enjoyable
exercise. The structure of trugs
is such that it can be used alongside other phonic programmes, giving
breadth and extra materials in order to support an individual. trugs uses text only to ensure reading mastery rather than using picture clues and the card games ensure that the reading experience is enjoyable as well as successful. |
