WHAT
TEACHERS SAY:
Thank
you for the cd rom. It installed like a dream! We will be
recommending it to SENCOs in Plymouth schools. Do you have any leaflets
which we can give to SENCOs?
If you have please could we have a few.
Maggie Parke - Plymouth Advisory Learning Support
Box letter shapes, as
illustrated above and used in the Crossbow BOX DICTATIONS and SIGHTWORD SPELLING
resources, help people with weak auditory - visual connections (common in
dyslexia) to "map" sounds onto letters - phonemes onto graphemes, in
technical language. EXAMPLES
The BOXES FONT utility is
actually a suite of 5 fully-featured tru-type fonts that you load directly onto
your hard drive, and that you use just like Ariel, Times New Roman or whatever.
EXAMPLES: You may want to
prompt a specific word, as in a cloze passage:
Type the sentence: "The leaves
on the tree are green"
Highlight "tree" and
change font to "Boxes Longlegs"
(Example
A opposite)
You may want
to encourage cursive writing in the boxes by using "boxes joined
up" (b)
You may want to show all
or some of the letters in the boxes
(c)
You may want to use the
script font without the boxes (D)
You may want to prompt
certain letters to practise specific spellings by using "boxes
colored" (E)
Or you may want any
combination of these
(F)
THE
BOXES FONT IS
A SUITE OF FIVE FULLY-FEATURED TRU-TYPE FONTS
In each case, it is simply a matter of highlighting
the word and changing the
font. Once installed on your hard drive, BOXES is there whenever you want it.
