First 100 words: this set covers the 100 most
frequently occurring words in children's literature today. US English
variations ("Mom" as opposed to UK "Mum") are included. It features the
illustrated first 100 words on one side of the cards, with words in SPELLING BOX SHAPES on the reverse.
The cards have a wipe
clean surface that can be written in with a dry-wipe pen. The first
100 word cards
are colour-coded for parts of speech, so that grammar terms and
concepts can be taught where appropriate, while younger children can be
taught the general principal that "different words have different
colours because they do different jobs in the sentence."
Ten words from the list are repeated to facilitate playing a sentence building game, that helps children attain the goal of SPELLING THE FIRST HUNDRED WORDS IN SENTENCES.
