pulished as SIGHTWORD SPELLING, now
completely revised in line with LETTERS AND SOUNDS and called "The
First Hundred High Frequency Words", this beautifully designed set
covers high frequency words from
phases 2-3 and phases 4-5 of Letters and Sounds. It features the
illustrated high frequency words on one side of the cards, with the
word in SPELLING BOX SHAPES on the reverse, with a wipe
clean surface that can be written in with a dry-wipe pen. The cards
are colour-coded for parts of speech, so that grammar terms and
concepts can be taught where appropriate, while younger children can be
taught the general principal that "different words have different
colours because they do different jobs in the sentence."
Ten words from the list are repeated to facilitate playing a sentence building game, that helps children attain the goal of SPELLING HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS IN SENTENCES.
