We test our timers individually, to ensure that the sand flows freely. In addition, our 5 minute timers are made in our own unique mould, designed specially for this duration. Smaller, cheaper 5 minute timers are available from some other suppliers, generally as part of a set of 3. These are made from the same mould as the other timers in the set (usually 1 and 3 mins), which is why they are the same price; but the aperture has been reduced to prolong the duration to 5 minutes. This makes them particularly susceptible to clogging, which interrupts or completely prevents the flow.
