Letter Roads
Word-building alphabet playmats

Children "drive" toy cars or other playing pieces from one letter to the other along the linking road, exploring letter shapes and developing wordbuilding concepts. Colourful illustrations on each mat reinforce the phonemes. The mats develop co-ordination and upper arm strength as well as letter shapes and phonemic awareness.

Letter-Roads are printed in Britain on recyclable plastic in non-hazardous vegetable-based inks, and are supplied with a Fair Trade cotton long-handled bag for storage and easy carying.

Alphabet Letters and Sounds

This lovely set provides a resource for a variety of matching activities and games, including upper or lower case letter to sound matching, upper to lower case letter, or sound to sound.

Happy Families and Snap can both be played. The pictures have been carefully selected to provide only concrete, unambiguous images accessible to young children. The pack contains 3 picture cards for each letter, (with the exception of the letter U, for which only “Umbrella” meets the criteria of being an image that is both concrete and unambiguous), and one card for each lower case and upper case letter. All vowels are in red, and consonants in blue. The letter Y is striped red and blue, to show that it can have both functions. Activity suggestions provided.
